Tom Bierster is founder and former director of coaching for the Blast Soccer Club in Fairhope, Alabama.
Tom was a regional staff coach with the ODP program in Region III for 5 years and a State ODP coach with the Alabama Youth Soccer Association for 7 years.
Tom coached professionally as head coach of the Mobile Revelers a USL team in 1994-1996, and had a record of 21-13 over two years. The Revelers had the third best defense in the league in 1995 and was a highly respected start up team in the league.
Tom spent one season as an assistant coach with Roy Patton at the University of South Alabama, where the team was nationally ranked that year, and won the prestigious Met Life Tournament at the University of San Francisco.
Tom also coached as the Varsity boys head coach at Bayside Academy in Daphne, Alabama were he enjoyed a 235-97-35 record with 7 trips to the final 4 over his 17 year career.
Tom has taken two Blast Teams at D-1 to the finals during his club coaching career.
His fondest soccer memory was the phone call he received from then Milwaukee Rampage coach Bob Gansler( the former National Team Coach during the 1990 World Cup) when his Mobile Revelers took the # 1 team in the nation (for three straight years), The Minnesota Thunder, into overtime before losing in the final minute . Coach Gansler then asked Tom how he was able to play this team so well, what was the strategy, no team has been able to contain the Thunder up to that point. “I was honored to have such a knowledgeable coach ask me for advice” stated Tom afterwards.
Tom holds a USSF "A" license.
