Coach Ken McDonald

Leads US National Deaf Team

to Semi-Finals of the Inaugural

World Deaf Futbol Championships

 

Mobile Soccer Club Coach Ken McDonald lead US National Deaf Team to the semifinals of the inaugural World Deaf Futbol Championships that have just concluded in Patras, Greece. 

 

The U.S. team beat Italy, China and the Netherlands before losing to Turkey in the semifinals. The U.S. team lost 4-2 in penalty kicks after two extra periods in the tournament that concluded July 12, 2008.

 

In the third-place consolation game, the U.S. team fell to France 2-0.

 

Prior to serving as the Head Coach for the United States Men’s Deaf team, Ken served as an assistant on the United States Women’s Deaf team that won a Gold Medal at the 2005 Deaflympics in Melbourne, Australia.  After the coaching job that he did with the Women’s team, Coach McDonald was immediately offered the position as Head Coach of the Men’s team and they began their road to the World Deaf Futbol Championships this summer.

 

Coach McDonald is the Coach of the Mobile Soccer Club U18 Boys Blue team.
