Pat Chanthavane came to the United States from Laos in 1979.
 
Pat began his coaching career as an assistant coach and a player for the Mobile United Soccer Club (1982-1984) where he was also the captain of the team. Pat graduated from W.P. Davidson High School in 1984.
 
Pat received an athletic scholarship to play for the University of Findlay (Ohio) as a midfielder and a sweeper (1986-1990). He was selected as the Most Valuable Player for District 22 in 1989 where he also received the Best Defender Award during the College Tournament at Defiance University in Ohio. He was a member of the Fellowship Christians Athletes (FCA) at University of Findlay.
 
Pat received a Bachelor of Science degree in Hazardous Material Management at the University of Findlay in 1990. He is currently working at Mitsibishi Polysilicon in Theodore, Alabama.
 
He coached a co-ed over 30 team in Gonzalez, Louisiana (1996) and was selected to play on the Baton Rouge Super Stars team in the same year. He coached a co-ed U-8 and U-10 team at Council Traditional School in Mobile (2004-2007), where they finished in first place two years in a row. Pat coached a U-12 boys team at the City of Mobile Recreational Sage Park (2007) where his team finished 1st place in its Division.
 
Pat has been married for 16 years to Mary and have one son, Spence, who is a current MSC player and one daughter, Georgiana.
 
Pat currently holds a USSF "E" License.
