Brian Diaz enters his first year as an assistant women's soccer coach at the University of South Alabama.
Prior to joining the staff at the University of South Alabama, Brian served as assistant women's soccer coach and sports information assistant at Newberry College.
Prior to his arrival in Newberry, Diaz served one year as head women's soccer coach and sports information director at Converse College. Diaz took the helm of the Converse soccer program in May of 2006. Prior to his arrival in Spartanburg, Diaz has been the assistant women’s soccer coach at Tusculum College for the three years. In that time he helped guide the Pioneers to a South Atlantic Conference Championship, two SAC Tournament titles and a pair of trips to the NCAA National Tournament. During his tenure, Tusculum posted an impressive 41-15-4 record, including 13-6-2 in league matches. In 2006, the Pioneers posted a 12-6-2 overall record and finished ranked No. 18 in NCAA Division II while advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years. The Pioneers first trip to the NCAA National Tournament ended with a Sweet 16 finish.
Diaz served as the assistant women’s soccer coach at East Tennessee State University prior to his post at Tusculum. Under his assistance, ETSU qualified for the Southern Conference Tournament for the first time. Diaz began his playing career at Carson-Newman College in Tennessee before transferring to fellow SAC member Tusculum. He played for the Pioneers men's soccer team from 1999-2001, helping his alma mater win the SAC Tournament Championship in 1999. That championship was the first championship for any Tusculum team as a member of NCAA Division II. He made 13 starts that season, scoring five goals.
Coach Diaz graduated from Tusculum in 2002 with a B.A. in General Management and a B.A. in Sports Management.
While in the Volunteer state, he worked for the Tennessee State Soccer Association as the Director of Coaching for Northeast Tennessee.
Diaz also holds a NSCAA Premier Diploma and NSCAA Goalkeeper Level II Diploma.
